Abstract
The method of recursive spectra bisection for the decomposition of finite element meshes and its parallel implementation on both a network of T800 transputers and for tridiagonalising real, symmetric matrices is also presented. The results for a number of meshes suggest that there is little benefit in parallelising the recursive spectral bisection method for domain decomposition on either platform.
