Abstract
This paper investigates the effect of reinforcing element in soil media by numerical analyses, discusses the implication of results in the light of some previous design assumption made, and studies the ability of the bar and solid elements, to respectively model reinforcements in pavement analysis under plane strain conditions, establishing the range of validity of such representation.
