Abstract
This paper presents a hypertext information base used for the storage and retrieval of codes of practice information. Checking a design against the relevant code(s) of practice is an essential part of structural design. Subsequently improving the accessibility of standards information aids the process considerably. This paper discusses the disadvantages associated with the conventional printed version of codes of practice and the features of the information base aimed at alleviating these problems. In addition the role and integration of the Information Base within a standards processing environment is addressed.
