Abstract
This research was motivated by the desire to provide consulting engineers, design build contractors, clients, and academics with improved design methodology. It serves as a link between the latest thinking on computer support systems and an urgent industry problem. Specifically, the project involves using the Internet and the WWW (World Wide Web) to develop an interface to a system that assists in the creation of design briefs. The design brief establishes what advisors clients will need and anticipates functionality, project costs, construction schedule, quality, etc. It also sets the tone for communication among project participants.
