Abstract
Small-scale laboratory model test results on the bearing capacity of a surface strip foundation supported by geogrid-reinforced saturated clay are presented. Only one type of clay and one type of geogrid were used for the model tests. The location of the first layer of geogrid with respect to the bottom of the foundation, spacing between the geogrid layers, width, and the depth of geogrid reinforcement were varied. Based on the model test results, the variation of the bearing capacity ratio with respect to the ultimate bearing capacity, and the bearing capacity at limited settlement levels were analyzed.
